In the nearly three and one half centuries since its founding in 1670 as a “great port towne” on the west bank of the Ashley River, Charleston’s history, architecture, landmarks, and friendly people continue to reflect its unique and diverse culture and traditions.

Mark Mason’s Charleston – Musical Portrait beautifully evokes the spirit of this magical place affectionately known as The Holy City.

More than a telling of Charleston’s history and triumphs these compositions blend the rich tapestry of the mystery of sea winds over the Harbor, the silhouetted steeples on the skyline, and memories of an English King, of pirates, patriots and the birth of our Nation, and the promise of a golden future.

The songs included in this CD portray some of the history, legends and folklore of the Charleston/LowCountry area.

Mark Mason has put together a fantastic one hour show performing the songs from Charleston – Musical Portrait live. The stories behind the songs and Mark’s inspiration to write them are explained before he performs his original tunes in a way only Mark Mason can do!

It is a fun, educational and memorable hour that can be enjoyed by everyone! Audiences from children to seniors learn and enjoy the history, legends and folklore of this beautiful area of South Carolina that we call home.

For  bookings call Mark at (843) 771-9654. It is truly a fun, enjoyable way to find out about Charleston, the Lowcountry, and her past.
